Warsong Gulch

Take their flag, protect your carrier and return your own: a coordinated trip home matters more than winning a fight in midfield.

01 / GAME PLAN

How to win

Two teams steal the opposing flag and bring it to their own base. Three successful captures decide the classic format. Your own flag must be home to score. When both flags are out, you need carrier protection and a separate team to recover your flag.

Prepare accessible bindings for control, interrupts and defensive abilities. Bring suitable supplies, agree on your role and read current Forever tooltips. On joining, check the objectives and displays for your match.

Map & orientation

Alliance starts in the north at Silverwing Hold; Horde starts in the south at Warsong Lumber Mill. Midfield connects both bases, with tunnels and side ramps offering different approaches. Call your intended exit before picking up the flag.

03 / GAME PLAN

From opening to finish

Our suggested opening plan: adapt it to the enemy and your team.

  1. Before the gates open

Name a carrier, their escort and a small recovery group. Decide who turns back if your flag is taken. No assignment requires a particular class; survival, movement and support matter.

  2. Pick up together

Enter the enemy base with the escort. The carrier announces the return route before taking the flag. Control pursuers rather than stopping for another kill.

  3. Clear the way home

The escort positions to intercept enemies between the carrier and a safe route. Healers maintain line of sight and range. Defenders call the enemy carrier’s location and direction.

  4. Split during a stalemate

Keep part of the team with your carrier. The recovery group regroups, marks a target and coordinates control and damage. Solo attacks give defenders time to recover.

  5. Capture, then reset

Return your own flag and complete the capture. Then regroup with resources and support. A surviving enemy away from the next flag route is not a compulsory target.

04 / GAME PLAN

Your role in the team

Carrier & escort

The carrier calls their route and defensive gaps. Escorts relieve pressure, keep pursuers away and match the carrier’s pace. A Hunter pet can occupy opponents but does not replace an escort.

Healing & recovery

Healers need a safe position with line of sight. The recovery group must arrive together and actually return the dropped friendly flag after a successful attack. Coordinate control instead of spending every ability at once.

Use the tools of your actual playstyle: control to protect a teammate, healing from a reachable position and damage on a shared target. Forever class changes make rigid class requirements for these jobs inappropriate.

05 / GAME PLAN

Solve common situations

Both flags are out

Do not send all ten players at the enemy carrier. Agree on a protection group and a coordinated attack. Example: “Our carrier north ramp, two chasing; recovery team regroup mid.” Returning your flag creates the scoring opportunity.

Your carrier is isolated

Leave a pointless chase and move toward the carrier. Controlling the nearest pursuer can achieve more than damaging someone far behind. Call a safe meeting point rather than just “help”.

You are behind

Being behind is not a reason to cross midfield unsupported. After a failed pickup, identify where coordination broke down: entry, exit or midfield. Change that part of the plan.

Mistakes that cost objectives

Chasing kills away from the flag; sending a carrier out without healing; leaving your flag on the ground after killing its carrier; overlapping control without a plan. Use normally accessible routes and avoid terrain or roof exploits.

06 / GAME PLAN

Queueing & progression

Queue with an appropriate capital battlemaster. Minimum level: 10. The associated reputation factions are Silverwing Sentinels (Alliance) and Warsong Outriders (Horde). Check quests and vendor inventories on your current Forever character; old Era price lists are not a reliable Forever shopping list.

Honor and Rank Points are separate parts of Forever progression. Use our general PvP guide for rank unlocks and the reward overview. After each match, also review one learning goal: did you reach the carrier, call help early enough or actually secure the intermediate objective?

Context & sources

As of 8 November 2026. Team sizes and levels come from Forever client data (build 1.60.1.70862). Darkspear Islands uses Blizzard’s Forever announcement. For the three classic maps, Blizzard’s Classic descriptions provide the rules baseline; unpublished Forever-specific values remain open. Tactics and example calls are our recommendations.

Unconfirmed time limits, resurrection intervals and version-specific special rules are not presented as Forever facts. The embedded terrain artwork is explicitly a Classic reference.
