Your profession in Forever
Build Skinning by skinning eligible creatures. Leather and hides supply other professions. Forever adds the Camp Chair, Field Guide and Trapper’s Workbench; these do not replace ordinary gathering progression.
Build skill step by step
Add skinning to your quest route
Learn Skinning, check the required tool and skin fully looted eligible creatures. Choose creatures that can still grant skill. Keep leather and hides separately.
Progress with creature level
Gradually move to more demanding skinnable creatures. Above skill 100, the profession database describes skill divided by five as the highest skinnable creature level. Use the actual tooltip as your check.
Target intermediate materials
For example, skill 150 corresponds to creature level 30 and 200 to level 40 under that formula. This is a skinning limit, not advice to fight every creature at the limit. Target Medium or Heavy Leather for your recipe.
Coordinate supply and a target project
Skill 250 corresponds to creature level 50 under the formula. Plan safe routes and the next rank. A Trapper’s Workbench also needs wood and an Iron Bar alongside Heavy Leather.
- Check trainer and rank: learn the profession and the next available rank. Your Professions window, K, shows what your character actually knows.
- Set a small skill target: choose a learned orange or yellow recipe you need yourself or can use as an intermediate. Green is less reliable; gray recipes grant no skill points.
- Craft in small batches: after each batch, check recipe color, supplies and your next useful alternative.
- Buy new recipes with a purpose: check acquisition, learning requirements and materials first. Spending Merchant’s Favor on a recipe does not supply its ingredients.
Stages are editorial work plans. They do not establish a guaranteed 1–300 shopping list: recipe colors, learned recipes and random skill gains determine your actual quantities.
Materials and sources
Leather and hides come from skinning eligible creatures, not automatically every beast. Murloc scales are loot materials; skinning unrelated creatures does not replace them. Thread and wood come from suitable suppliers, bars from miners.
Recipes and material planner
These projects show exact ingredients per crafting batch. Change the batch count to scale the materials. One craft does not automatically grant one skill point.
