Your profession in Forever
Cooking is a shared secondary profession. Ingredients become food, drinks and campfires. Even familiar dishes can provide different buffs in Forever than in older Classic guides.
Build skill step by step
Fire and simple meals
Prepare a cooking fire and use learned recipes with meat or fish you already have. The new Skywall Souffle has a traceable recipe quest on Zephras Isle.
Connect catches and meals
Choose meals by their current colors and ingredients. Check buffs: Smoked Sagefish is a spell-damage food in Forever, not automatically its old mana meal.
Process the correct fish
Compare learned recipes with your actual catch. A similarly named fish does not replace the required raw species. Obtain more recipes when existing dishes turn gray.
Plan advanced meals
Check rank and recipe acquisition before bulk ingredient purchases. Nightfin Soup is an ingredient example; add suitable later recipes and required workstations using your Professions window.
- Check trainer and rank: learn the profession and the next available rank. Your Professions window, K, shows what your character actually knows.
- Set a small skill target: choose a learned orange or yellow recipe you need yourself or can use as an intermediate. Green is less reliable; gray recipes grant no skill points.
- Craft in small batches: after each batch, check recipe color, supplies and your next useful alternative.
- Buy new recipes with a purpose: check acquisition, learning requirements and materials first. Spending Merchant’s Favor on a recipe does not supply its ingredients.
Stages are editorial work plans. They do not establish a guaranteed 1–300 shopping list: recipe colors, learned recipes and random skill gains determine your actual quantities.
Materials and sources
Fishing supplies fish, suitable enemies supply meat and eggs, and Herbalism contributes plants. The Forever database lists Simple Flour at vendors in several capital cities. Plan a suitable cooking fire for ordinary dishes and an Iron Oven for certain advanced recipes.
